DOWN ON OCEAN AVENUE (song)

down on ocean avenue
street signs tumbled to the sand
where tattoo covered boarded walls
came alive to start a band
a band of heroes
crooning songs
of standing tall
and strong
making out with
hurricanes
like lovers
that won't last for long

guitars made of only air
played by mermaids pumping fists
abandoned by the fishing pier
beached and begging for that kiss
from a band of heroes
crooning songs
of running wild
and free
while standing in
the food lines
refuse
to stop believing

that someday
we'll rise again
like a broken down chorus
with a horn section
building up from behind
lifting us high
reminding us
that someday
we'll never die
when someday comes
we'll never really die

sitting on the ravaged boards
we reminisce of growing up
holding our breath, rolling in waves
wishing we were tramps on the run
like our heroes
crooning songs
of escape
in speeding cars
but now gas cost too damn much
and we're ok right where we are

and  someday
we'll rise again
like a broken down chorus
with a horn section
building up from behind
lifting us high
reminding us
that someday
we'll never die
when someday comes
we'll never really die

down on ocean avenue
street signs tumbled to the sand
we were reminded who we were
and who we'll be again...
